Muddy Water Baits is a relatively new company that produces a soft plastic bait that mimics the size and shape of 2.25″ shad. 2012 National Champion Travis Bunting, and his business partner, Nathan Oliver, created Muddy Water Baits. They had been looking for a better plastic bait that would withstand the punishment of dock shooting. The biggest problem Travis encountered was that the thin tail on most baits on the market would flip-up onto the hook within a few shots under a dock. Travis also noticed that even after hooking a Crappie, the tail would sometimes be on the hook between the bait and fish’s mouth, acting almost like a weed guard.
